    The Parks, Recreation & Libraries Advisory Board was established in 1986 to advise the City Council on items such as the planning of future parks, the modification of existing parks. They play a key role in the planning of current and future recreation activities and provided input in the preparation of the Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan.

    The Planning Commission acts as an advisory body to the City Council on existing and potential policies, and other issues related to planning development and regulation of land use. The Planning Commission has decision-making authority for a variety of development proposals.

    The Municipal Art Committee was established on July 18, 2005 to advise the City Council on matters regarding the acquisition, maintenance and disposition of works of art, public art displays, monuments and memorials.

    In general the Board serves as a quasi-judiciary body that hears appeals variances relating to regulations contained within the Zoning Ordinance. As a result, the decisions made by the Board need to be in conformance with state statute. Board meets as needed.
